Upgrading the Bootloader on a SIP Express

Only do this if instructed by ABP/Azatel!

Introduction:
Firmware versions can only be run on certain bootloader versions.
Following is a compatibility table:
Firmware Version Bootloader Version Default IP
1.4.2 and lower ??? 192.168.100.1
1.4.3, 1.4.4, 1.4.5, 1.4.6 1.66b 192.168.100.1
1.5.2, 1.5.3, and up 1.67 10.20.35.17
or
172.25.25.1
or
169.254.254.254


Assumptions:
You have been through the quick start guide and can browse to the SIP Express.

Warning:
Several customers have made doorstops out of SIP Express units by not following the instructions. If you make a mistake you could have to send the unit back to the Manufacturer for reprogramming.

  1. Obtain a tFTP server.
    Step 1 in this link describes what we recommend.

  2. Download and unzip this file.
    Unzip to c:/tftp/ to match with the procedure above.

  3. Connect your PC to the SIP Express ENET port.
    Do not connect anything to the WAN port.

  4. Change your computers IP to 192.168.100.200 as described in the PDF.

  5. Power cycle the SIP Express.

  6. Telnet to 192.168.100.1
    username: supervisor
    password: sipexpress or ambit or azatel
                    or what you have defined.

  7. If you are set up like above, following are the commands you to upgrade the bootloader, then the firmware.
    Otherwise replace 192.168.100.200 with the correct IP.


     #Telnet to the TA2.
     #Login with supervisor and the supervisors
     # password.
     #If you have any errors stop and contact:
     # support@abptech.com.
     #Reset to default configuration via telnet
    flashfs format cli
    reboot

     #telnet back to the TA2.
     #password will change to default of either:
     # ambit
     # sipexpress
     # azatel
     # wre4wecr
     #download the latest boot loader
    flashfs copy 192.168.100.200/boot_167.bin boot/boot.bin

     #Format the application code
    flashfs format app1
    reboot

     #telnet back to the unit
     #************ At this time the Default IP of
     #the SIP Express might have changed ************
     #It could be one of the following
     # 172.25.25.25.1
     # 169.254.254.254
     # 10.20.35.17
     #make sure to change your PCs IP to x.x.x.5 to
     #match.
     #when successful, there will not be a password
     #and prompt will be different
     #You will have to change the ip in the following
     #command to your PCs IP.
    dload 192.168.100.200 C02V001.00.00_AZATEL-v1.5.2.cpr

     #lights will "go crazy" and finally the box will
     #reboot and be back up on 1.5.2 firmware.
