News on Digium portfolio

At TMC's IT Expo in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Digium introduced several new products to the public for the first time. These included the TDM800P, the TE120P, the long awaited TC400B and a new software based HPEC (High Performance Echo Canceler).

- The TDM800P is the 8-port version of the TDM2400P. The card supports up to four of our single-port analog modules or up to two of the quad-port modules. All 8 ports may be connected to RJ-11 interfaces directly on the PCI card. The TDM800P may be used in conjunction with Digium's High Performance Echo Canceler (HPEC), a commercial and toll quality hybrid echo cancellation solution.

- The TE120P is the new single-span T1/E1/J1 card and also uses VoiceBus technology for better interoperability with different PC systems. This product will replace the TE110P over the next 6 months.

-The TC400B is designed to handle in dedicated DSP resources the complex codec translatiosn for highly compressed audio as would otherwise be processed by Asterisk in software.

- The High Performance Echo Canceler (HPEC) host-based Toll-Quality echo cancellation is a software designed to operate under 32-bit and 64-bit Linux and provides echo cancellation for configurable tail lengths of 16ms (128 taps), 32ms (256 taps), 64ms (512 taps), and 128ms (1024 taps) on a per channel basis. While the existing carrier-grade echo cancellation solutions, running on dedicated DSPs, do not impact the performance of the host-processor, this new software canceler requires a moderate amount of CPU time / MIPS in order to effective eliminate echo.

VoSKY Skype for Business Entry Level VoIP Solution for Telecom Resellers

Small and mid-sized businesses can now take advantage of Skype with Actiontec’s VoSKY Exchange multiline business Skype gateway. Vosky Exchange allows company PBX systems to connect with up to eight Skype callers and lets you treat Skype lines like trunks on a PBX. It takes a lot of the Skype client concern away from business users, because the Skype link just becomes another trunk line.

The product requires no changes to existing PBX equipment, phones or user PCs; can be installed in two hours; and allows users to make and receive Skype calls on their regular office phones instead of using a PC and headset. With a single Skype for business gateway the company can have customers and salespeople call-in on Skype. Skype traverses most firewalls and has high quality sound with echo cancelation.

As snom gears up for a new higher resolution phone soon to be announced, the current snom 360 is already being updated to inherit most of the new XML functionality. With the latest Firmware resellers can build micro apps that enable the IP Phone to interoperate with standard web servers.
You can use your snom 360, to deploy customized client services with which users can interact using the keypad. The snom 360 will use HTTP protocol from standard web servers. Typical services are:

- To-do lists
- Daily schedule
- Telephone directory
- Stock Information
- Weather
- Provisioning dialog for Installer / ITSP setup application

The "PhoneBook for Snom-Phones". This is a phone book browser with an integrated search function and includes an LDAP-, flatfile- and MySQL-backend.

Epygi Enhances IPBX Quadro software.

The release 4.1 of the software is shipping now with Quadro 2x, 4x and 16x PBXs. Most of these new software features are designed to simplify and accelerate the setup process of Quadro PBXs.

The new version includes a quick-install checklist that pops up onscreen when a Quadro is plugged in. Voicemail setup is now also automatic. When a phone is plugged into the system, the software automatically guides the user through setup. The software also simplifies upkeep by performing automatic firmware updates, and a backup utility is provided so that a copy of the entire system configuration can be stored on a server or FTP location.

Other features were added to improve uptime and enhance the user experience once installation is complete. Plug-and-play, distinctive ringing and notifications sent via SMS for Astra IP phones and Snom IP phones is now included.

Another example of this focus on usability is the inclusion of call relaying. This allows the user to place a call remotely through his or her work phone. By dialing into the system, and then placing a call, it appears that the call originated at the office. Other user-focused features include on-screen status indicators for different phone states (e.g. “do-not-disturb”), and a built-in 7-party conference bridge.

Epygi Unveils New Gateways

Epygi is launching a new family of 19," rack-mountable, single-port E1/T1 gateways, QuadroM. The new gateways, come in a metal enclosure and are rack-mountable.

The new gateways are designed specifically with the South American market in mind, where E1 is the norm, and high-compression codecs are necessary.

QuadroM supports 30 E1 channels per port using the G.729 codec.
