Mobotix Training Equals Neuron Stimulating Monitoring Applications

It has been a few days since I attended the Mobotix IP Security Camera training and I am still coming up with applications for this device. I am even dreaming ways to implement this solution. Instead of sugar plums dancing in my dreams, I have the Mobotix camera dancing around showing me different ways to offer cost effective applications with real power and value to give to End-Users.We had a representative from Mobotix come by our office and give ABP and a few VARs the opportunity to learn more about the Mobotix cameras. I had already started working on our own in house Mobotix solution to secure our building so I did not think this would show me anything new. I was seriously mistaken. We started to discuss many different applications and features that I had not even begun to touch and I was like a kid in a candy store. Not only was I impressed, everyone in the room at one point or another would say “Wow!” or “That is amazing!” I have included a few of the applications that were brought up in the training. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them in the comments section.Server Room Monitoring:If you have a Mobotix Camera installed in a server room to monitor who is accessing your network, you can also monitor the temperature at the same time. Mobotix offers Video Motion Event windows that depend on Pixel change to trigger an event. You have to create a window with a few clicks and then create an action for that event. (i.e. E-mail a jpeg of the event, place a SIP call, or just trigger recording). You can also have another event that is temperature dependant so you know if the temperature is getting to high. This is useful so that you do not have business critical services, like your phone system, crashing due to over heating. The temperature sensor in the camera can trigger an event and send and e-mail of the jpeg, place a sip call, or record the event.Direction Sensitive Actions:In our facility, we have a will call area and I asked the Mobotix trainer if we can create Audio action events based on directional motion. I would like the camera to play an audio message through its integrated speaker when someone is entering the will call area greeting them, and then play a salutation message when they are leaving the Will call area. I was told that you can create “Event Logic” that will have conditional triggers and determine the direction of the person. First a created Two Video Motion windows, one closer to the door and one further in the room. I also created two event logic settings that associated a specific audio message action when that event logic was triggered. Once I saved the settings, you can come into our facility and it will say “Welcome to ABP Technology” and when you leave it will say “Thank you for visiting ABP Technology.”Standard Video Surveillance:The Mobotix Cameras give you ability to offer a great video surveillance solution as well as the other applications that I mentioned. With the Video Motion Events you can create windows that are based on pixel change and they will trigger a specific capture method. However; in the event that it is too dark to capture change in pixels, the camera also has an integrated Passive IR sensor as well. This IR sensor can also trigger recoding so that you can detect motion even if the Video Motion windows are not triggered for some reason. You also have 3 electrical inputs and 3 electrical outputs that you can connect to magnetic door relays, weight sensors, and many other analog devices that can cause events to trigger or work in conjunction with other event setting to record the events. You also have the option to have the camera place a SIP video call to an IP video camera to show you the event taking place. This is useful for access control and safety. You never know if it is really the UPS delivery person. If you do not have a video phone, then you can use your snom IP Phone and call the camera since the camera has a built in SIP client. You can hear and talk to the person causing the event to trigger.Mobotix Control Console:Mobotix will also give you a complete Camera suite called the Mobotix Control Console. This software is completely FREE even though it offers Custom Layouts for up to 30 video cameras per computer, Post-Processing (Exposure rates, color saturation, and Contrast levels), Alarm Windows, Event Finder search tool, exportable conversion, and other features. Software like this for any other video system is very expensive if you would like to customize your images in any way.In summary, I could go on and on about the different things that the Mobotix IP Security Camera can do for your companies; however, that would just take up way too much blog space.
